Figma component properties

Instance, boolean and text properties created with the latest version of Figma do not show up. If the default value is hidden, there is no way to display it as an option in ZeroHeight currently. Would be awesome to have support for this added 🙂

Yardco We'll need to have a look at what Figma have made available through their API to know what information we'll be able to show.

I'm also getting a handle on how this changes the way create and maintain our components internally so I'd be interested in knowing how this changes what you're documenting and what you'd like to show to viewers of your documentation site

We have components that have additional options which aren't enabled by default (think about a dropdown component for example, which is collapsed by default, not expanded). We now are easily able to create a boolean property for it which expands the component to display the dropdown menu or collapses it if a designer wants to show the default state. We'd like to include the expanded state of the component in our documentation but we can't display it as its not showing up in zeroheight

Yardco Yeah I see what you mean. I did see a few folks on Twitter talking about this issue in general (not just in relation to zeroheight) because it means you don't have immediate visibility of certain states and could make auditing trickier. I wonder if creating a specific instance of that component would work as a workaround?

Yeah that would definitely work, but zeroheight doesn't show instances right?

Yardco Yeah you're right, you'd have to put the instance on a frame first to be able to show it in the design uploads.

I've raised this with our product team to investigate further.
